Webinar: Expertise based on personal experience
In this webinar we share results from our research project: “Expertise based on personal experience”.
In this project, funded by Interreg Central Baltic and carried out together with Funktionsrätt Åland, we have trained persons with disabilities in web accessibility based on their lived experiences. The training included practical exercises where participants tested and reported on issues found on public sector websites.
The website owners say, among other things: “we learned so much more from this than the average expert audit”.
Background
There is an increasing demand for web accessibility expertise across the EU. People with disabilities have unique knowledge on the topic – and many in this target group are unemployed. Combining informal knowledge based on individual needs with technical training and practical piloting may bridge the gap in the market.
Be inspired by a practical project that includes empowerment, sharing of knowledge, a more holistic understanding of user needs and increased accessibility.
