Integration of web accessibility in university education in the EU
IAAP Nordic, run by the Funka Foundation, participated in an EU-funded project to create pilot courses in web accessibility that can be adapted to education programmes in, for example, IT, design, and communication.
With clear legal requirements for web accessibility, there will be an increased demand for web accessibility skills for everyone who in some way works with digital interfaces.
The purpose of the IWAC (Integration of Web Accessibility Courses in ICT Programmes) was to support universities and colleges to include web accessibility as an integral part of their teaching programmes. The project, funded by the EU, developed and tested a robust set of core materials for accessibility courses, including online courses, case study materials, and guidance and recommendations for universities to develop and adapt their own courses.
The training material is published openly for everyone to use.
