The customer is always right – what on earth do we do now …?
Our customers, partners, followers and users are incredibly committed to accessibility. When we asked for input to help us prioritise which courses to offer on our new e-learning platform, we got a very clear answer: everything!
Our business is based on scientific methodology, whether we are training, auditing, testing or conducting research projects. That is why we want to ensure that we offer the services and products the market really needs. We get incredibly frustrated with organisations that launch things without involving users – the result is always worse. The problem with internal perspectives that cause those responsible to forget about usability (and accessibility) is a recurring issue that all of us who provide support and advice to website owners repeat until we get tired of our own voices. The list of examples is long.
So it was obvious for us to ask our customers (and potential customers) what we should focus on as the next step, now that we have launched the certification-preparatory courses on our e-learning platform.
No sooner said than done: we conducted a survey and asked which courses were in demand. Lots of responses – great! But. An overwhelming majority of respondents ticked all the suggestions. The self-satisfied person then thinks, ‘Aha, we’ve already guessed right, everything we suggest is needed!’. The person who has to plan the business thinks, ‘Well, if everything is equally important, where should we start?’
The answer is, just like the recommendations we give to organisations that need to tackle their accessibility issues: one step at a time.
Based on the fact that all types of training are needed, we have developed an ambitious plan that means we will gradually deliver more and more courses covering different aspects of accessibility, role-based and in different languages. If you think we are slow, remember that we ensure that everything we deliver is of the highest quality, pedagogically well thought out, packed with the latest knowledge and practical examples. In addition, it is based on live training and created by real, living, professionally certified trainers.
We look forward to offering self-study courses in legal requirements and technical standards, assistive technology and user needs, document and cognitive accessibility and much more.
We also deliver tailor-made live training courses, where you as a customer can decide exactly what we should focus on.
