IAAP Professional Certification Preparation Training

A Professional Certification from IAAP is an effective way to show your knowledge and commitment to work professionally with accessibility. The Funka Foundation is an IAAP Approved Certification Training Preparation Provider. Our preparatory courses are specifically designed to increase your readiness and confidence to pass the exam.

The courses thoroughly go through IAAP’s preparation material (the Body of Knowledge, BoK), reinforcing the learning with concrete real-life examples. All trainers are certified subject matter experts with extensive experience in the field.

The training can be customised or self-paced and includes both theoretical elements and interactive exercises. The setup can be adapted to the needs of the client, for example in terms of time or on-site implementation. Contact us for more information.

We offer preparation courses to the following certifications:

Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)

The CPACC certification provides fundamental knowledge about accessibility. It is relevant for all professional roles and demonstrates that the holder has a broad, cross-disciplinary, conceptual knowledge of the field.

The training is conducted in three half-day sessions of three hours each. It covers all areas of the certification:

• Disabilities, challenges, and assistive devices
• Accessibility and universal design
• Accessibility-related standards and laws and organizational management strategies.

Please note that completing the training does not guarantee success in your professional certification. The course should be used as a complement to your own studies to prepare you for the exam.

To apply for the CPACC certification, you need to have at least 1 year of experience in accessibility or a new/changing role with some responsibility for accessibility. IAAP assesses the applications received and decides whether you meet the requirements.

CPACC certification preparation training

Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)

The WAS certification demonstrates that the holder has intermediate technical accessibility knowledge and contextual experience to apply this knowledge, including the ability to understand, apply and implement technical elements.

The training is conducted in two half-day sessions of three hours each. It covers all areas of the certification:

• Creation of accessible web content, covering among others: accessibility guidelines, principles, and techniques; programming aspects; user strategies and quality assurance
• Identifying web accessibility issues: interoperability/compatibility with assistive technology, conformance levels and tests
• Accessibility remediation: prioritisation and strategies

Please note that completing the training does not guarantee success in your professional certification. The course should be used as a complement to your own studies to prepare you for the exam.

To apply for the WAS certification, you must have at least 3 years of experience with active, first-hand technical digital accessibility responsibilities. IAAP assesses the applications received and decides whether you meet the requirements.

WAS certification preparation training

Accessible Document Specialist (ADS)

The ADS certification demonstrates that the holder has hands-on experience with creating, evaluating, and remediating documents in order for them to be accessible, based on technical guidelines and best practices. It also includes knowledge of how to properly support others in work processes and accessible document strategies.

The training is conducted in two half-day sessions of three hours each. It covers all areas of the certification:

• Creating electronic documents with accessible content and format
• Remediating electronic documents
• Document accessibility testing/audit
• Providing guidance, consultancy, and training, and promoting increased document accessibility through policy work and advocacy

Please note that completing the training does not guarantee success in your professional certification. The course should be used as a complement to your own studies to prepare you for the exam.

To apply for the ADS certification, you must have 1-2 years of first-hand experience in accessible document authoring, remediation, training, policy, and advocacy of accessible document solutions. IAAP assesses the applications received and decides whether you meet the requirements.
