Research projects
Based on our wide and in-depth expertise in accessibility and inclusion we deliver research insights and innovation to advance the inclusion and participation of everyone, regardless of ability. Our approach is based on user involvement, taking a holistic approach to accessibility, adopting a broad perspective, building partnerships.
User involvement
The only way to truly know what persons need for inclusion is to ask them and involve them in the process. At the same time, inclusion is a way to participation and emancipation. This is why the research we carry out has a special focus on user involvement as a driving force for change.
A holistic approach to accessibility
Our activities cover everything related to accessibility: communication, digital environments, built environment, and transport. We have particular interest in cognitive accessibility, as there is still so much to be done in this area. But for us, all user perspectives are equally important. Mother tongue, age, socio-economic factors, and the surrounding environment all together may play a role in how users experience and handle products and services.
Widening the perspective
We believe that real change requires initiatives at different levels of society. This is why we are active in standardisation, scientific research, innovation, strategic investigations, policy development and user-driven initiatives.
Building partnerships
We want to strengthen and increase the independence of people with disabilities, by collaborating with many different stakeholders. Therefore, we like to work in partnership with or on behalf of end user organisations and civil society at large. The scientific part of our work is often carried out in collaboration with leading universities and research institutions around the world.
